Where to Vote

Shiwani for Ward 7

New Ward. Dedicated voice for Caledonia.

Advance internet voting opens Oct 16 Final Election Day: Mon, Oct 26

What I'm fighting for

Infrastructure-first growth

Homes second, infrastructure first. Roads, water and community spaces must keep pace before new developments overload the neighbourhoods we already have.

Your wallet, protected

Respecting your tax dollars with line-by-line budget oversight, because a 3.74% hike and an 11% OPP contract increase deserve real answers.

Safer neighbourhoods

Proactive community policing and targeted traffic calming for the streets of Ward 7. Safe streets and protected homes, not afterthoughts.

My
Mission

"I am committed to showing up for our community, long before the vote and every single day after."

I am a proud Caledonia resident running to serve as Ward 7's representative on Haldimand County Council. With our community slated to absorb nearly half of the County's overall growth, Ward 7 was built to give Caledonia a dedicated voice.

We need a representative who will ask tough questions at County Hall, put resident priorities first, and ensure infrastructure keeps pace with growth.

This campaign isn't about politics as usual. It's about neighbours, budgets you can trust, and a councillor who answers the phone.

One box matters on October 26.

When you get your ballot, online from October 16 or in person on Election Day, look for the name SAGAR, SHIWANI and mark the box. Ward 7's first-ever council seat deserves a voice that's counted on.

Power the campaign

Meet Shiwani

A dedicated Caledonia resident bringing legal integrity, disciplined oversight, and responsible leadership to County Council.

Shiwani Sagar is a proud Caledonia resident, living here with her family and running to serve as the first councillor for Haldimand County's newly created Ward 7. As rapid growth puts real pressure on local roads, services, and taxes, municipal governance cannot be treated as on-the-job training. Shiwani is a licensed legal professional, an ethics educator, and an experienced advocate who has spent more than a decade building programs, managing budgets and delivering results. She brings the disciplined leadership Ward 7 needs: doing the deep homework on every issue, reviewing the complex proposals carefully, and protecting taxpayer dollars with transparent, accountable results.

Legal Experience & Ethical Standards

Professional legal oversight to protect community interests and municipal integrity

  • Licensed accountability: Brings practical experience in regulatory compliance, administrative law, and legal standards as a licensed legal professional and Ontario Commissioner for Taking Affidavits.
  • Teaching ethics and standards: Instructs legal professionals and consultants on administrative compliance, professional responsibility, and legal ethics through accredited Continuing Professional Development (CPD) programs.

Fact-Based & Objective Oversight

Analytical training to critically evaluate growth and technical proposals

  • Evidence-based evaluation: Applies analytical training from an Honours Bachelor of Science from Brock University to objectively examine complex proposals, environmental data, and county staff reports.
  • Asking the tough questions: Holds council presentations to high standards, making sure major planning decisions are backed by verifiable facts and community capacity, not assumptions.

Responsible Fiscal Leadership

Extensive experience building programs, and managing community services

  • Leadership across sectors: Proven experience building programs, managing budgets, and leading teams across healthcare, education, and legal practice.
  • Making growth pay for growth: Protects residential taxpayers by ensuring that new growth covers the cost of the infrastructure it requires, keeping the tax burden off existing homeowners.
  • Prioritizing essential services: Balances strict fiscal discipline with targeted investments in local road maintenance, pedestrian safety, community parks, and frontline emergency services.
